Dr. Clara Coreas-Herrera

President

Dr. Clara Herrera, governance chair, Professional Family Child Care Alliance of Georgia (PFCCAG), is the Neighborhood Actions Ministry Director at Roswell Presbyterian Church. As director, Dr. Herrera partners within the community to build relationships, advocate for equality and education, and empower all to use their gifts to help their community flourish. An experienced social services professional in education management, Dr. Herrera is skilled in youth development, coaching, and program evaluation. A local, national ,and international trainer, Dr. Herrera focuses on early childhood and parent education. Earning a doctorate in education, Dr. Herrera’s concentrated on Latino parental engagement in kindergarten transition and readiness. A 2012 Georgia Educational Research Association award finalist, Dr. Herrera’s study was recognized as innovative.


Over 25 years of educator experience, Dr. Herrera has served as a consultant for Babies Can’t Wait and worked with the North Fulton Child Development Association with the Parents as Teachers Program. Dr. Herrera served as president of the Association of Latino Early Childhood Educators and the Georgia Family Child Care Association. She was co-chair of the Georgia Parents as Teachers Network, lead instructor of the United Way Early Care and Education Teachers Career Pathway, adjunct instructor at Georgia Piedmont Technical College and Professional Development Specialist for the Council for Professional Recognition, Washington, D.C. Dr. Herrera currently serves as a CDA Professional Development Specialist, an accreditation observer for the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), member of the NAFCC Accreditation Council, and is certified as a mental health coach.


Dr. Herrera’s goal is to continue enabling parents and teachers to become advocates for quality education and care for children. She believes that empowerment makes a greater impact on children’s education and future. Her greatest pride is her family, Luis, her husband, and Clary and Luis, her children, for whom she strives to be the best role model that she can be.
