Brenda Burns
Secretary
Since 2006, Brenda has served her community as a family childcare learning home provider. A former administrative office assistant at a local middle school, Brenda invested in her professional development by earning a Technical College Certificate of Credit and an ECCE Diploma from Sandersville Technical College. The investment paid off! Today, Brenda operates a 3-Star Quality Rated program since 2012, has been instrumental with identifying needs and assessment for families of children with special needs, and serves as a Quality Rated Ambassador.
Serving in the state family childcare association, PFCCAG, Brenda previously served on the board of directors as the Region 3 Representative and was recently installed as the board secretary. Also serving on the Childcare and Nutrition Association Food Sponsor Program, Brenda is secretary of the Family and Children Empowerment Solutions, LLC. A former Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Brenda volunteered in the Middle Judicial Circuit where she was an advocate and voice for children. Brenda also works closely with the Jefferson County Community SHIPS for YOUTH program. Consistently seeking funding to invest in her business, Brenda participated in the SEEDS and LITTLE grants and is a current participant in the QRLLE grant.
As the only 3-star rated FCCLH provider in her town, Brenda has assisted childcare providers within and outside of her county who were either preparing to open, had Quality Rated concerns, or asked general questions or needed technical assistance. Brenda formally partnered and provided apprenticeships for teachers in Technical College ECE Practicum and Internship programs. Recognized as a professional, Brenda has received several awards and recognition from Sandersville Technical College and the local CCR&R and from state and local agencies. A formally NAFCC-accredited family childcare provider, Brenda was awarded GAEYC’s “2022 Family Child Care Provider of the Year.”
When former students return to visit, Brenda has the greatest joy. Brenda says, “all of these accomplishments commit me to accountability
